OUR HISTORY
The Barossa region
With a rich food, wine and cultural history dating back to 1842, the Barossa Valley is one of the most historic wine-producing regions in Australia. There are now seven, and some eighth generation grape growing families in the Barossa Valley, who are the custodians of Australia’s (and arguably the world’s) largest collection of old vines.
Benbullen Retreat is nestled in the centre of this beautiful region, set amongst the vines and valley. Once home to goldfields, the property now encompasses a beautiful homestead, surrounded by the peaceful sounds of nature. Benbullen Retreat is the perfect place to immerse yourself in the landscape and all it has to offer.

Benbullen Retreat is a stunning 5 bedroom, 3 bathroom, bluestone homestead with Jarrah timber floors and wood features throughout.
It’s the ideal place to prepare for a special occasion, with a huge light-filled main suite with arm chairs, dressing room and ensuite – not to mention the stunning views!
With its gourmet Hamptons style fully equipped kitchen, you can cook up a storm or have our in-house caterers prepare meals for you.
An open fire in the lounge provides beautiful ambience while the slow combustion heater in the atrium will keep you toasty warm on the coldest days. For the warmer months, you’ll find a reverse cycle airconditioner and ceiling fans to keep you cool and comfortable.
Following a day of exploration in the Barossa, you can select a bottle of the Barossa’s finest from our wine fridge along with a book from the range of literature available to suit all tastes. If the weather permits, venture out to our shaded Alfresco marble table or down through the wild olive paths to the secret garden – an idyllic place to relax and unwind amongst the peace and tranquility of nature.
